Levels taught: beginner to advanced Description: BM Guitar Performance, UNC-Greensboro. Fred began the first after school Suzuki guitar program at Greensboro Day School, and established a successful Suzuki guitar program at his own Southwick Guitar Studio in Greensboro. After moving to Hickory in December 2009 he joined the faculty of the Hickory Suzuki School of the Arts. He is a registered member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has completed Suzuki guitar teacher training and registration through guitar book 5. He also loves performing the lively traditional dance music of Ireland and Scotland, and recorded two CDs with the Celtic group Gaelwynd (“Out on the Ocean” and “Northern Lights”). He accompanied Susan Vinson Sherlock on her CD of hammered dulcimer music entitled “Wateree”. Fred is an active member of the Piedmont Classic Guitar Society, the N.C. and National Suzuki Associations, and the triad Fiddle and Bow traditional music organization.
