Levels taught: beginner to advanced Description: BM Guitar Performance, UNC-Greensboro. Fred established the after school Suzuki guitar program at Greensboro Day School and also teaches at his home, Southwick Guitar Studio. He is a registered member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has completed Suzuki guitar teacher training and registration through guitar book 5. He also loves the lively traditional dance music of Ireland and Scotland, enjoys performing regularly and has recorded three CDs: two CDs with the Celtic group Gaelwynd (“Out on the Ocean” and “Northern Lights”), and “Wateree” featuring Susan Vinson Sherlock playing the hammered dulcimer. Fred is an active board member of the Piedmont Classic Guitar Society, a member of the Greensboro Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association, and a member of the triad Fiddle and Bow traditional music organization.

Lessons are personalized to fit individual learning styles, experience, and preferences, therefore a broad range of methods and approaches are employed to maintain a fun, stimulating and comfortable environment in which to progress. Her mission is to nurture students of all ages to draw out the musician within. Marie attended Guilford College as a guitar major and has been teaching private classic guitar and ensembles in Greensboro since 1997. She devotes her time to teaching, composing, recording, painting and drawing, as well as film production, music direction, sound design and soundtrack composition. She has recorded with Manifest Spirit Records www.naftracks.com, and is currently working on a CD of original compositions for solo guitar.
